Our first adventure in Tokyo

Today marked our first little trip with Taka.  Where else could we have gone but SHOPPING! We took a taxi with Taka's crib mate and his parents to Akachan Honpo, the store I have been aching to go to since we started the adoption process.  I was not disappointed!  I think I went momentarily crazy in the store.  Can you blame me?  It just doesn't get any better than a place filled with Japanese baby things.  Plus, they had a liquor section for parents who needed a little something for themselves. Here is the "before" picture - you might be able to see little Taka sleeping in his Bjorn.

Eric took a few photos in the store but was mainly trying to reign me in.  He assured me we would be back and to only get the essentials today.  Here are a few Japanese backpacks that every little elementary school child has.  They are called randoseru and I desperately want one (as does every person who loves Japanese culture!) but they are hundreds of dollars so it did not make the list of "essentials".

Crayons, markers, coloring books... everything awesome.
Jinbei, I don't know what you translate this as.  I think the dictionary defines them as adorable little Japanese outfits which, in my opinion, constitutes an "essential" but ended up making the "next trip" list.

A Kansas City University shirt!  Pretty cool, made-up university, especially since 99% of Japan has never heard of Kansas City.

My two handsome guys!

Here is the "after" shot.  I had to hand over Takahiro to Eric so I could run from one thing to another at full capacity.

We hadn't eaten lunch yet and were starving so we stopped at an Indian restaurant - oishikatta (delicious)!  We were the only people there because it was so late and they were very friendly.  Both Taka and his crib mate needed a diaper change during lunch and they made a little changing area for us.  So nice!

Back home, Eric laid out the loot - not too bad.  You can see I did get some "non essentials" but even Eric couldn't escape the amazing awesome-ness of Akachan Honpo!

Taka was such a good boy on our trip.  He slept the entire time.  As soon as we returned home, though, he was fussy.  That's alright, though.  Mom and dad to the rescue!  Isn't he precious?
