Muji and Tokyo Tower

We had a busy day today.  It always begins with feeding time. We take turns feeding, burping and diapering little Takahiro.

And, bath time is always a highlight!  Taka has a little blow up bath and he likes the water very warm.

Most mornings also mean skype time with Grandma!  My mom has been calling in to see Taka nearly every day.  It's so fun to skype with friends and family.  Eric and I are really missing Greta and so we get to see how she is doing, as well.  She is having fun at my mom's house so that makes us feel better.  Today, was a busy skype morning.  We got to talk with Grandma and Roger, Aunt Kay and Uncle Max, and Jeremy, Jayme and the twins!  How fun!  We've also visited with Eric's mom, dad, sister, Gus and Laura.  Call us up, if you'd like to meet Taka!  (We're probably awake.)

Our first adventure today was to Muji, the largest branch in the world.  Muji Rushiryohin (or "Muji" for short) is similar to a Target, I suppose.  It literally means "no name brand" which means they have a brand, after all (how very cool) and they sell everything you can think of.  Their style is clean and simple.  This picture is in the lobby of our apartment complex before we headed out.

Here Taka and I are waiting for the subway to come.  But, it's Japan so we only have to wait 2 minutes.

We didn't take any pictures shopping but here I am in front of the Muji sign.  The store was packed but you certainly can't tell from this picture.

After shopping, we were pooped.  So, we stopped at a cafe and had pasta and an iced-coffee.  Takahiro slept the entire time.  We were stopped several times today by Japanese grandmas looking at Taka.  They "oohed" and "awed" him and it was fun talking with them about adoption.  Everyone has been so kind and happy and supportive!

Taka cuddling with his dad waiting for the yamanote train to come.  After we got home, we took a little break before heading out again with our Canadian friends to Tokyo Tower.  The walk is about 3 minutes, which is convenient for all parties.  It wasn't very crowded and proved to be a perfect time to visit.  Evidently, I'm a little afraid of heights because I was a little nervous being up so high.  Tokyo Tower is taller than the Eiffel Tower and just as bit as awesome.  Eric took pictures from outside Tokyo Tower in a previous post.

Finally, my dream come true.  FUJI-SAN!  Of course, the picture just doesn't quite do it justice but Mount Fuji towered above everything.  At first we couldn't see her because of the lighting and clouds.  But, as the sun dipped down, she showed herself.  I lived in Japan for one year in the nineties and I have never seen Mount Fuji.  It's not like you can just look up in the sky and see her from the streets of Tokyo.  There are so many tall buildings and clouds usually cover her up.  But, we happened to be at the top of Tokyo Tower at a great time.  This was such a special moment for me.

And, I'm glad we weren't up there too long because we had an earthquake this evening, too.  It wasn't very big but it's such a creepy feeling when it's really quiet and everything starts shaking.  Below, is a night shot looking towards Shinjuku.  We had dinner at the foot of Tokyo Tower and headed back home to try and sleep... but really that means feeding Taka again.  There are no days and nights when you have a 4 week old.
